Competitive Hybrid Conditioning Launches at Jefferson Fit in Downtown Sarasota
What is Competitive Hybrid Conditioning?
A growing fitness trend centered around endurance racing, hybrid conditioning, and obstacle-style competitions is making its way to downtown Sarasota.
Jefferson Fit is launching a new group fitness class called Competitive Hybrid Conditioning, designed to help members improve endurance, strength, speed, stamina, and overall athletic performance through race-inspired functional training.
The new group fitness class officially launches Monday, May 18 and will take place Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6 a.m.
Led by Sarasota native Cameron Darby, the class combines functional strength training with cardio conditioning through:
sled pushes
rowing
carries
timed intervals
endurance circuits
full-body performance training
The format is designed to challenge both strength and stamina while remaining scalable for a wide range of fitness levels.
A Growing Fitness Trend
Interest in hybrid fitness racing, obstacle course competitions, and endurance-based events has grown rapidly across Florida and nationwide.
Many Sarasota-area fitness enthusiasts now travel throughout the year to participate in events such as Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, Ironman competitions, and the increasingly popular HYROX races — including the upcoming Tampa competition weekend this October.
Competitive Hybrid Conditioning was created to give Sarasota-area fitness enthusiasts a local option for structured, performance-focused training without having to travel outside the region.
“This style of training has really grown in popularity over the last few years,” said Jefferson Charles, owner of Jefferson Fit. “People want workouts that feel purposeful, athletic and challenging. Cameron brings great energy and a strong performance background to this program, and we’re excited to offer members a new way to build endurance, strength and confidence.”

Outside the gym, Darby enjoys staying active through paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, sports, and other outdoor activities around the Sarasota area.
More Than Just Competition Training
While the class is inspired by the growing popularity of hybrid fitness racing and endurance events, participants do not need to be training for a competition to benefit.
The workouts are designed for anyone looking to:
improve endurance
build athletic conditioning
increase strength and stamina
challenge themselves in a new way
train in a motivating group environment
All fitness levels are welcome, and modifications will be provided as needed.
The class is included with Jefferson Fit monthly memberships, and non-members may attend with the purchase of a $30 day pass.
Fitness and Recovery Under One Roof
Jefferson Fit recently opened its new downtown Sarasota facility and offers personal training, group fitness classes, recovery amenities, cold plunge therapy, saunas, red light and salt therapy, and performance-focused wellness services under one roof.
Members can pair high-performance training with recovery-focused wellness services designed to support muscle recovery, endurance training, mobility, and overall athletic performance.
